Scott Carlson - family man, business man, and Late Model Stock car driver - was born in Duluth Minnesota (1958) and moved to Florida in 1972. He's been racing 34 years, winning an indoor snowmobile championship (Duluth, Minnesota) when he was 8 years old! At 41, Scott is extremely competitive - his goal is to win every race - losing is not an option.
He began his asphalt racing career in go karts in Pensacola, Florida at the age of 13. His longtime friend and current crew chief, Vic Barsh, was his racing mentor. While racing karts, Scott won the Northwest Florida Karting Championship in both junior and senior divisions. His initiation to driving "big" cars came at Five Flags Speedway where he competed in "one-on-one" drags. Scott was able to secure a ride in a late model stock car owned by Rex Brooks. His first year he finished 10th in points at Five Flags Speedway. He competed at Atlanta International Speedway in a "race of champions". Scott was 18 years old.
During 1979-1980 Scott fielded his own car and team running weekly at both Five Flags Speedway and Mobile International Speedway. In 1981 he won the Southern Speedway Championship in karts. Then in 1981 he secured a ride with Bobby Grant in a featured class, again running Five Flags Speedway and Mobile International Speedway on a weekly basis. In 1992, Scott won the Sportsman championship at Five Flags Speedway. In 1994, he raced the Late Model class for Bill Harrison and won the track championship at Mobile International Speedway. It was during this timeframe when Bob and Cheryl Najor noticed Scott and asked him to race in the 1995 Snowball Derby.
Scott is married with two children. His wife Denise enthusiastically shares her husband's love of the sport. Scott's son Brandon is destined to step into racing wherever his father leaves off. Brandon is also a karting champion winning the Rookie Class at Pensacola Raceway Park in 1995. Scott's lovely daughter Ashley helps out wherever she can. When he isn't racing, he owns and operates Fast Eddies Fun Center, Pensacola, Florida. It offers complete family entertainment seven days a week. The park offers kart racing for all ages, along with an indoor game room, and accommodations for special gatherings. |
